Center for Cognitive Behavior Therapy: Vyond Training Video

Developed a scenario-based training video to model effective “Time Out” strategies between a parent and child. The project demonstrates the use of storytelling, scenario-based learning, and animation tools to translate behavioral concepts into clear, relatable training content.

Audience

Adult learners enrolled in a Parent Management Training program at the Center for Cognitive Behavior Therapy, to guide them through a Time Out scenario.

My Role

Instructional design, scenario writing, storyboarding, visual design, development in Vyond, prototyping and iteration.

Tools Used

Vyond, Adobe Illustrator & Google Docs

The Problem

The Center for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy needed a more engaging way to teach parents how to use “Time Out” strategies effectively—a concept that can be complex to explain through text or traditional discussion alone. Their existing materials were informative but lacked the interactivity and real-world modeling needed to help adult learners confidently apply these therapeutic techniques.

The Solution

I collaborated with the Center’s SME's to transform their multi-step behavioral strategy into a dynamic, scenario-based training video. Using a provided script, I storyboarded, designed, and produced an animated role-play in Vyond that modeled realistic parent–child interactions. The final video used storytelling, relatable dialogue, and clear visual cues to illustrate key steps and reinforce best practices. After incorporating therapist feedback, the polished, narrative-driven video became part of the Center’s training and resource library, providing an accessible, effective tool for clients and caregivers to strengthen their understanding and confidence.

Development Process

Following the ADDIE framework and collaborating with a subject matter expert, I created a role-based scenario animation in Vyond for a range of different adult learners.

01

Analysis:

Determined the target audience (adult learners — primarily parents and caregivers) and desired performance outcome (modeling appropriate “Time Out” techniques with confidence).

02

Design:

Collaborated with SMEs to develop a clear learning objective and measurable outcomes.

Wrote and refined the storyboard and script, using scenario-based learning to simulate real-life parent–child interactions.

Role Play #1 Storyboard

03

Development:

Built the animated scenario in Vyond, incorporating the final script, narration, and visual cues.

04

Implementation:

Delivered the video in multiple formats for ease of use in counseling sessions, workshops, and the Center’s video resource library.

05

Evaluation:

Gathered feedback from therapists on learner reactions and comprehension improvements during counseling sessions.
